About the artist:
Sue Smith is a Sussex-based landscape artist. She grew up in the village of East Dean and now lives and works in Brighton, where she has her studio. Her work is deeply influenced by the local landscape, which for her is a place of history, tranquility and nostalgia. Through her paintings, she seeks to capture the enduring nature of the South Downs, conveying a sense of timelessness and permanence. In 2025, she was a Wildcard winner on Landscape Artist of the Year.
