Inspired by atmospheric changes and the natural world, Damian's practice explores memory, perception, and our sense of place. It evokes sensations associated with the natural environment in and around the south coast, through its interplay of colour, texture, and form. Rather than presenting a recognisable landscape, the composition captures the experience of changing weather, shifting light, and the emotional resonance of open spaces. It does not seek to reproduce reality with photographic accuracy. Instead, it communicates mood, atmosphere, and feeling through compositional relationships, expressive mark-making, and carefully balanced colour palettes.
