About the artist:
Ella Husbands is a Brighton-based artist working with digital photography and immersive installation. Her practice explores altered and fragmented perception, informed by her experience of chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS/ME). Through light, colour and distortion, she creates images that move between abstraction and recognition, reflecting the intensity and instability of sensory experience. Drawing inspiration from rhythms and forms found in nature, her photographic work transforms organic structures into hyper-real compositions. Reflective surfaces, saturated colour and layered perspectives disrupt the familiarity of the natural image, creating a tension between clarity and disorientation. Through these heightened visual environments, Husbands invites viewers to reconsider their relationship to perception, the body and the natural world. Husbands graduated from Central Saint Martins in 2017 and has exhibited throughout the UK, including at Huxley-Parlour Gallery and Phoenix Art Space.
