About the artist:
Documentary photographer, teacher, creative, performer, and artist. BA (Hons) in Photography from Anglia University, Cambridge, MA in Photography from Goldsmiths, University of London, and a Further Education Teaching Degree from Greenwich University, London, Currently attending Roehampton University in London, training as an art psychotherapist. Her personal portfolio includes 'Funland,' a documentary series centred on the British seaside, and 'Peekaboo,' which chronicles burlesque performances at venues such as the renowned Slipper Room in New York and The Burlesque Hall of Fame in Las Vegas. She derives considerable inspiration for her personal photography projects from the darker narratives of fairy tales. The work on display is a selection from her project Twisted Tales and Siren Scales, which includes documentation of the famous Coney Island Mermaid Parade. She prefers to work with analogue, using a medium-format Hasselblad and Hasselblad XPan to create panoramic photographs.
