What Remains I

Memory does not stay still. It shifts, fades, returns. This painting hold what remains and is the main leading painting of my ‘Memories’ collection. The work begins without a fixed plan. Each mark responds to the last. This process mirrors how memory shifts over time. Nothing stays in its original form. Drips, erasures, and layered colour speak to this movement. They hold traces of what was, without trying to reconstruct it. The paintings do not describe events. They hold emotional residue.

About the artist:
Grace Fung is a mixed media artist with an MA in Design Studies from Central Saint Martins. Combining digital and analogue techniques, she creates vivid, energetic visual experiences shaped by her background in an Art Rock band during the Indie Sleaze era. Her work draws strongly from music, exploring the tension between harmony and discord. Through impulsive lines and instinctive brushstrokes, Fung balances spontaneity with structure, revealing patterns that emerge from apparent chaos.
