Tir-dhàimh

These textile collages aspire to evoke the landscape of the Scottish hills and English countryside. This particular collage depicts the view from Arthur’s Seat in Edinburgh where her mother grew up and Poppy spent many a rainy summer. The fabric has been cut in the wavering shapes of the landscape and different textures have been selected to mimic the cliffs, grassy verges and wild flowers. All materials used are off-cuts from her garment designs or past projects.

Heart Of Douglas is a UK womenswear and knitwear brand by local artist and designer Poppy Harrison. Poppy draws inspiration from her Scottish and English heritage, as well as from stories, objects and skills that have been passed down by family. She uses her drawings to influence her garment designs and vice versa, she works from objects and photographs she collects. Her textile collages aspire to evoke the landscape of the Scottish hills and English countryside. All materials used are off-cuts from her garment designs or past projects.
