About the artist:
Since graduating in Fine Art Printmaking at the University of Brighton in 1996 Heike has been living and working with her family in the UK, Germany, Switzerland, France and the US as a Printmaker and watercolour artist, with Brighton, UK, as the premier location and home. Heike splits her working days between her studio, where she creates her etchings and lithographs, and the University of Brighton’s fine art printmaking department as an instructor for lithography. Her colourful etchings and lithographs are often inspired by landscapes at home and abroad. The shapes, lines and textures of landscapes form the base to express more abstract ideas - creating images that are inspired by an experience or a personal reaction to a particular landmark or situation. With her etchings, watercolours and lithographs Heike aims to ‘show’ rather than tell a story and inspire the viewer to find their own imaginative narrative in her work.
