Benzaiten to Tsukimi (Moon Viewing with Benzaiten) is a 4 colour risograph in fluorescent green, yellow, fluorescent pink and blue ink, printed on Munken Lynx 240gsm paper.
Inspired by Benzaiten, the Goddess in Buddhism and Shintoism for everything that flows, whether that be creativity, time, music she does it all! Her messenger is the snake and in her shrines and temple you will often find snake statues. In the print you can see a Tsuchinoko, which is a chunky snake cryptid being strongly encouraged to say hello to Benzaiten by an orange frog like creature Okka. This print is part of the Lunar Zodiac series.
Paper size: 21 x 29.7 cm (A4).
Open edition.
Nanami Takeuchi aka Nana Sometimes Draws draws inspiration from Japanese mythology and folklore to explore her heritage, creating new narratives for well-loved and lesser-known mythical creatures. Drawing with traditional brush pens, fine liners and anything that will create interesting textures. Riso printing brings her great joy, she enjoys seeing the lines and textures translate to print in these bold fluorescent colours depicting cute and slightly gruesome scenes.
