Valentines Schmalentine's
Linoprint. 12 x 17 cm. Sold unframed.
Alexis Snell is a printmaker working in linocuts who is well known for her darkly humorous and characterful illustrations which have been featured in everything from a cast bronze table ‘cabinet of curiosities’ which was commissioned by the V&A Museum, to a recent Doctor Who book for the BBC.
She graduated in Fine Art Printmaking from The University of Wales Institute, Cardiff in 2003. Working primarily with the lino-block relief printing process, she has also experimented using small detailed wood-blocks.
For inspiration, she looks to old matchbox covers, record sleeves, tea boxes, postcards, explorers, the circus and films.
This work is shown at Atelier Beside the Sea as part of Fairy Tale.
