Barcelona Cat Lovers

This is a coloured-up print of my recent cut-out project. After experimenting with the configuration where all the subjects can be placed in different places, I settled on this scene: one figure reads a novel while the other impossibly plays chess, balancing the board and pieces. With checkmate only two moves away, the scene becomes a metaphor for that unbeatable feeling of falling for someone. Limited edition of 100 pigment print

alej ez is Alejandro Martinez Rodriguez, an architect and contemporary printmaker based in Brighton. His practice evolved from a lifelong passion for drawing, combining architectural precision with expressive ink, texture and colour. Inspired by direct experience and the act of “standing and staring”, he finds order within everyday chaos. Working from his photographs, he creates handmade drawings that are digitally layered and coloured, producing individually signed limited-edition art prints. Love life, love art!
