The Lad in the Bath and the Cat

In this bath scene, I have included a lad in profile, loosely referencing a drawing by Clive Hicks Jenkins. Behind him, a large framed landscape linocut by Edward Bawden depicts an ancient churchyard, while the cat is inspired by a cherished print I once had at home. The composition explores the domestic interior as a setting for everyday life and self-expression. It draws on my interest in artists including Édouard Vuillard, whose colourful interiors I encountered at Pallant House Gallery, and Alekos Fassianos, whose work I saw in Athens.

His practice evolved from a lifelong passion for drawing, combining architectural precision with expressive ink, texture and colour. Inspired by direct experience and the act of “standing and staring”, he finds order within everyday chaos.
