"Working in a medium that is reduced to just 2 colors, black-and-white, makes it critical to have a clear idea of what you want to say and cut out the rest of the bullshit. There is no room for it in print. Thick bold lines demand attention. I’ve found them to be profoundly useful." Ysidro Pergamino's debut exhibition is at Atelier Beside the Sea this September.
Our third arch here at Atelier Beside the Sea is home to the Beehive Art Club - a community art group that supports those who have suffered from bereavement and isolation during the pandemic. It’s a chance for group members to explore their creativity and learn new skills. One regular member said "I like the opportunity to make art and make new friends. I find this is one of the few things in the week that can make me leave the house when feeling down and overwhelmed. The level of art tutorship is fantastic." Find out more about Beehive, come to our open day and help keep the Beehive buzzing!
Into the Overwhelmis well titled. Three life-sized, snarling terracotta dogs' heads face-off; one with its muzzle bound by rope, one spewing octopus tentacles and the other flowers. It is beautiful and slightly disturbing, equal parts myth and mayhem, and it recently won the CASS Art Prize in Three-Dimensional work at our Atelier Open.
